MESEC Winter School

MESEC: the Mediterranean Society for Consciousness Science is an association of researchers that jointly attempt to tackle the 'problem' of why we are conscious. I enrolled and was very happy when I got accepted for their Winter School in Dashur, which was the purpose of a trip to Cairo. The concept: a combination of (online) lectures in a venue with incredible views of the Bent Pyramide, a swimming pool and amazing Egyptian food for all our thoughts. Within our group of twenty participants from different scientific, philosophical and cultural backgrounds we brainstormed about our own nervous system, whether computers and octopodes (could) have subjective experience and whether we are less or even more conscious when we dream. All in all, an incredible experience with a beautiful bunch of people!
